What components are necessary for good health? Your doctor will tell you that you need exercise, rest, and certain elements to maintain good health. Some of those supplements are vitamins and minerals. Do you know what those vitamins and minerals are? These pages will help you to understand and maintain good nutrition.
Here is a juicy tidbit. GLUTATHIONE removes mercury from the body. Anyone with dental fillings should take note. Mercury does a lot of damage to the human body. So it goes without saying, make sure you get enough glutathione. Most nutritionists agree that 250 to 500 mg. per day is sufficient.
A lack of vitamin B1 (thiamine) causes beri-beri. Anyone who drinks a lot of alcohol should take note because alcohol destroys the vitamin B1. This explains why an alcoholic often has DT's (delirium tremens). Vitamin 3 niacin deficienc causes pellagra. A lack of vitamin B12 causes pernicius anemia. Vitamin C deficiency causes scurvy. They learned about this when sailors did not get enough citrus fruit while serving on ships Make sure you get enough of these supplements.
Some doctors will tell you that you cannot get proper nutrition just eating foods. The food producers have added substances that are detrimental to your health, such as . MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE I have phoned them many times asking them not to add this i ngredient to their food products.
They say it is a flavor enhancer. NOT TRUE!! It is a neurotransmitter and if you eat it, it causes your brain cells to work themseves to death Can you afford tolose brain cells for such a fooloish reason? I cannot. If you want to know more about MSG read "In Bad Taste" by George R. Schwartz,Md. Salt is a flavor enhancer. MSG changes the body to accept the substance.
Processed food has lost much of its nutrition. The government made it compulsory to add vitamins to white flour because much of its nutrition was lost in the process of making it white. While much nutrition was lost only a portion was replaced. White flour is almost devoid of nutrition and should be eliminated from the diet.
The same can be said of white sugar. It is empty calories. Another way of stating it is that you get energy but no nutrition from white sugar. And if you eat more than necessary for energy it is stored as fat. If you are addicted to sweet why not supplement it with a good multi-vitamin.
There are many nutritious substitutes for white sugar: honey, brown sugar, turbinado sugar, molasses, xylitol, and stevia to name a few. High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is another empty calorie food product. The food producers include it in nearly all sweet products. The food producers are responsible for the obesity problem in this country. READ LABELS, then phone the food producer and ask for the elimination of these substances from their products.
I believe that when God made man, He also provided the nutrients necessary to keep him healthy. The problem today is that you cannot find food like they used itn the
Bible. The closest you can come to good nutritious food is organic food. The organic way is--no pesticides, no commercial fertilizer and no genetically modified anything.
These growers use compost instead of fertilizers. When you put back what you have removed, it keeps the soil productive. Gaylord Hauser said "If God made it, it is fit to eat. If man made it, it is not fit to eat." It will be fit to eat if it is truely organically grown.
Now it is time to discuss some of the additives that are harmful to the body. A sugar substitute, ASPARTAME causes many ailments, including cancer. My friend has fibromyalgia because she drank a lot of diet colas. It is a very painful illness and according to the medical profession is incurable. However it can be mitigated by adding vitamin supplements.
SUCRALOSE (SPLENDA) is much worse. Two of sugar's ions have been replaced by chlorine. Sugar cosists of carbon6 hydrogen12 oxygen6. This combination is the formula for glucose and fructose, monosaccharides. The disaccharide formula is similar C12H22O11. Sugar is hard enough on the human body but to replace two ions with chlorine is much worse. Everyone knows what chlorine is--don't we get more than enough in the public water system? The medical profession expects us to believe that CHOLESTEROL causes heart attacks. The awful truth is that your liver makes cholesterol. Every cell in your body needs cholesterol. When your diet includes cholesterol, you are telling your liver not to make it. We need to give the liver a break anyway since we have only one and it performs more than 2500 functions.
Research has shown that too much HOMOCYSTEINE in the blood causes cholesterol to build up on the arterial walls. In atherosclerosis the heart must work harder to pump blood through narrowed arteries. When you supplement your diet with vitamin B4 (folic acid) it helps to control homocysteine.
Finally a note on CANCER. It is not a death sentence. It is only a six letter word. If doctors would do more to build up the immune system instead of thinking of the thousands of dollars that surgery would provide, they wouldn't lose so many of their patients. Patrick Quillin,Ph.D. says everyone will have cancer six times in their lives. The reason they live after the first bout with cancer is that their immune system was fuctioning properly so that they could fight it successfully.
Cancer is quite fragile. It cannot live in an alkaline environment in a temperature of 107 degrees, which is one degree less than it takes to kill brain cells. Also cancer cannot live in the presence of oxygen. I have been preaching this for a long time.Now they are experimenting with heat. I put hydrogen peroxide in every glass of water I drink.
Otto Warburg was given the Nobel prize in 1931 for discovering that sugar causes cancer. Furthermore, cancer cells use sugar five times faster than normal healthy human cells. Researchers have discovered that the cancer is covered by a substance that a pregnant woman makes so that her own body will not destroy the infant in the uterus.
I take a number of vitamins and minerals every day. I give my little dogs vitamins and yeast tablets. The yeast is mostly B vitamins. I also read the ingredient list on the dog food bag. I do not buy dog food that lists corn first. It is probably genetically modified corn. GM corn has not been proven safe for dogs or human beings.
I hope this has been helpful. There is so much to learn about health and disease. I have been reading for many years and after each book I say that is the last one. But then like this Bottom Line book, they will learn more. Research is an ongoing endeavor. This much I am sure of--the human body is a very complex system that we should strive to keep functioning properly.
